Why did they break up? Well, Boity explained: “All it was was just time management – one was busier than the other – and it’s just time, that’s all it was.”

The two started seeing each other early last year and finally admitted to their relationship in a campaign for clothing label Legit of which Boity was the face.

They first dated while they were in school. Of this recent break-up, Boity tells True Love Cassper did not cheat and that their break-up was amicable. She says their issue was time management and they were ‘too busy for each other.’

“We broke up in December and I cried about it, I got angry about it, I tried to convince myself that its okay then eventually you are just like life actually continues,” said

Boity. She asked if he ever cheated on her, Boity told the mag: “No. Not once did I ever feel like he’s cheating on me or giving someone else attention or whatever, there was never a time where I fought about any girl. He was absolutely respectful towards me in terms of his female fans…”

Jo-Ann Strauss' life threatened after Penny Sparrow debate

Former Miss South Africa, Jo-Ann Strauss has set the record straight after being trolled for her comments about the Penny Sparrow racist post.

People across the country have been left infuriated by a Facebook post by estate agent, Penny Sparrow, who referred to black people as “monkeys.” (Read more on that here)

The post, which went viral within minutes of it hitting the social media wires, has been a talking point across the country for the past few days.

Thousands of people, including high-profile celebrities and politicians have added their voice to the ongoing debate, which calls for an end to racism in the country.

Shortly after the post went viral, Jo-Ann was one of the celebrities who lent her voice to the debate.

Jo-Ann’s opinion was not welcomed by hundreds of Twitter users who dug into for the comment. The TV star faced severe backlash for the tweet with some users threatening her life and labelling her a ‘racist.’

On Wednesday morning, Jo-Ann returned to social media with a lengthy statement to explain the context of her tweet.Jo-Ann Strauss Miss South Africa Top Billing TV presenter

Here’s the full statement:

“As a person of colour, I have faced racism during Apartheid, and unfortunately still do to this day. Each one of us experiences racism differently and deals with it in their own way. My way of processing racism has been to grow a thick skin against it, thus my response to the ?#‎PennySparrow? Facebook post.

I did not intend to trivialize the damage that the #PennySparrow Facebook post/s had caused, nor impose my approach on those who pursue a more active attitude and confront racism head on.

My tweet was not intended to condone the very hurtful and racist comments or belittle the response that followed, as I oppose any discrimination based on skin colour. I was, however, repulsed by the hatred of some people who responded to my tweet suggesting that I should be killed or should go somewhere and die.

Tweets ranged from “All you need is monkey to put a gun at the back of your ass lil madam (sic)” to “Ubhula umlilo ngo paraffin … hamba uyofa (sic”) to “SA has a place for racists, if that’s not the case then why are the likes of @chrishartZA @jo_annstrauss @pennysparrow still alive today.”

There were many tweets calling for me to be beaten up, mostly hit in the face and one which asked for me to be smeared with excrement. Those were the ones which disgusted me.

I am and always will be a proud African and South African and hold a bright candle of hope for the future of our country and have faith that we find ways to overcome our hurt and hatred.”

Meet Lalla Hirayama

Lalla Hirayama tv presenter Japanese Asian modelMy inspiration comes from within. My dreams and what I want motivate and inspire me.

Health and wellness is that fundamental element in life that allows you to live fully.

The secret to doing so much at my age? There is no secret. I was ambitious from a young age. As I kid, I wanted to do everything, and I have achieved that. I was blessed to have parents who supported me.

I’m a gym bunny. If I have the time, I’ll run into a yoga class. I’ll also do a few at-home exercises, but I’m looking at taking my fitness plan outdoors for 2013.

I have struggled with bad skin most of my life. Finally my skin has cleared, so I take really good care of it. I drink a lot of water, eat healthily and use the right products. I visit my dermatologist for peels every so often, and I always take off my make-up before bedtime. Making sure I get enough rest is also vital.

To empower women is to give us the opportunity to stand strong on our own, speak with our own voices and be respected as equals next to any other in the workplace, society and in the home. I will never be fully empowered as long as the women around me are oppressed.

The secret to my success is my unshakable drive and an incredible support structure.

Face to face with Pearl Thusi

Pearl Thusi black model SABC1PEARL Thusi is the hottest kid on the block right now. She has sex appeal that leaves men weakened, looks, style and flawless diction – and acting ability to boot.

She’s the fantasy of every man who watches SABC1. So it was no wonder that I was filled with uncertainty when I had to interview “her prettiness”.

Before meeting Thusi I hadn’t known what to expect from this model. Zero personality? A vague aloofness bordering on truculence? Overpowering character? Airs and graces? But all these fears evaporated within 30 seconds of my meeting her.

It turned out that the lady from KwaNdengezi in KwaZulu-Natal was as sweet as cinnamon and sugar.

Does she think she is hot? “I don’t know. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some people think I’m pretty,” she says coyly. She adds that she is the only yellow bone in her family.

The moment I was born everyone was shocked at the way I looked. Apparently I have the genes of one of my great-grandmothers who was half black and half white,” she says.

When I was growing up my family members used to tease me about the fact that I was lighter than everyone else. At school, kids used to tease me about the way I looked. I realised there was nothing wrong with me when I won beauty contests.

When it comes to my work, being light-skinned has worked wonders for me; though in some cases it worked against me,” the former Miss KZN says.

Black Pearl Thusi TV presenterThusi, who lost her mother in 2004, says she adopted something from various mothers, including Basetsana Khumalo, who is her spiritual mother and her best friend’s mother. She has a growing number of accomplishments and a long parade of magazine covers, commercials, an Real Goboza (RGB) co-host, Zone 14 actress, the list goes on and on.

Thusi has every right to be smug about her high-profile career. But this woman remains grounded and does not seem to get carried away by the glitz of the showbiz industry that brought her stardom.

My grandmother, who passed away last year, was a born-again woman of serious prayer. If I wanted something to happen I would tell her because I knew she would pray and it would happen. She taught me to love the Lord and to be grounded.”

Thusi, who is a born-again Christian herself, says her spiritual homes are Rhema, Grace House, My Father’s House and The Church of Holy Ghost, depending on where she is.

This looker says she never in her wildest dreams thought she was going to get to present RGB. But she was no stranger to TV when Real Goboza came knocking at her door. So it came as no surprise when she replaced Brenda Ngxoli.

Her new role has not been smooth sailing. She rubbed some people the wrong way when she revealed that a well-known DJ was having an affair with the wife of a hip-hop artist.

“When I was called to audition I was shocked. I was floored when they told me I got the job. I’m enjoying every minute of it. This job has taught me to respect and have empathy for journalists. Working with celebs is not easy. It is interesting how people react when they see a camera.”

Her love life? Thusi, who is cagey about the man in her life right now, has a 5-year-old daughter with former sports presenter Walter Mokoena. The two have since gone their separate ways.

We met way back before I was famous. We broke up because we did not feel the same way we used to feel. He is a loving father, though. My daughter sees him as her hero. Whenever she feels threatened by someone, she tells them her dad will deal with them.”

Thusi’s dream? “I dream of doing movies one day in which I will work with big names. At the moment I am concentrating on my studies at Unisa and working on getting a degree,” the former Wits University student says.

I want to push myself to the absolute limit. I really feel like I’ve only just begun.”
